Gold

Gold is a highly sought metal used for jewelry or decoration, and has been around since the start of recorded history. Gold is made within the grains of rock or appears as nuggets or in veins. Pure gold is a very shiny yellow, extremely dense and the most acquiescent metal man has ever known. Its chemical symbol is Au, its atomic number is 79 and it won’t rust in the air or water in any way. Gold has a great use for jewelry because of it softness and it blended with base metals which alter is colour, hardness and other characteristics.

Gold has had great value to people for thousands and thousands of years, as it not a man made metal it’s impossible to say exactly when the first gold was seen on earth. As we know form the Romans and Egyptians gold was used for rituals and celebrations.  Some Egyptian hieroglyphs reference gold as far back as 3000 BC and as we know gold have been found buried with Egyptian kings in tombs.



Gold will always hold a special place with people for many different reasons and will still be here after we are gone.
